Peer Review Process
|
Peer Review Process is a quality assessment mechanism conducted before a manuscript is published. Submitted manuscripts are evaluated by experts in relevant fields who provide independent comments and recommendations to assist the editorial team in determining whether the manuscript is suitable for publication in Adagium: Jurnal Ilmiah Hukum. |
| KEY POINTS IN THE PEER REVIEW PROCESS |
| 1 | All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial screening by the editorial team. |
| 2 | Manuscripts that meet the journal requirements are assigned to at least two peer reviewers with relevant expertise. |
| 3 | Peer reviewers independently assess the manuscript and provide recommendations, including acceptance, revision, or rejection. |
| 4 | The Editor-in-Chief or editorial board considers the reviewers’ recommendations and makes the final editorial decision. |
|
Peer review is an essential component of scholarly publishing. It serves as a quality control mechanism through which experts evaluate the originality, relevance, methodological quality, and academic contribution of a manuscript. Reviewers provide recommendations only, while the final decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief or editorial board. |
| HOW DOES THE PEER REVIEW PROCESS WORK? |
| 1 | The editorial team evaluates whether the manuscript complies with the journal’s submission requirements, focus and scope, ethical standards, and template. |
| 2 | Eligible manuscripts are assigned to peer reviewers who possess expertise relevant to the subject matter of the submission. |
| 3 | Reviewers evaluate the academic quality of the manuscript and submit their reports, comments, and recommendations to the editor. |
| 4 | The editor reviews the reports and communicates the editorial decision to the author. |
| PEER REVIEW MODELS |
| 1 | Single-Blind Review Reviewers know the identity of the author, while authors do not know the identity of the reviewers unless reviewers choose to disclose their names. |
| 2 | Double-Blind Review Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous during the review process. Reviewers do not know the authors’ identities, and authors do not know the reviewers’ identities. |
| 3 | Open Peer Review Both authors and reviewers know each other’s identities. Where applicable, reviewer reports may be published alongside the accepted article. |
| 4 | Transparent Peer Review Reviewers may know the identity of the author, while reviewer identities remain anonymous unless they choose to sign their reports. Anonymous review reports may be published with accepted articles. |
