Plagiarism Screening
|
Plagiarism Screening is an essential component of manuscript quality control at Research in Humanistic Futures of Education (RHFE) . Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original, properly cited, ethically prepared, and free from plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, or the unauthorized use of another party’s intellectual work. |
| PLAGIARISM SCREENING GUIDELINES |
| 1 | Use a Plagiarism Screening Tool Authors are encouraged to conduct an initial similarity check using a recognized plagiarism-detection tool, such as Turnitin. All submitted manuscripts may be screened by the Editorial Team, with a maximum permitted Similarity Index of 30%. |
| 2 | Review References and Citations All quotations, ideas, theories, data, tables, figures, instruments, learning materials, and statements obtained from other sources must be cited accurately. The reference list must be prepared consistently in accordance with the journal’s required citation style. |
| 3 | Apply Proper Paraphrasing Paraphrasing must involve a substantive reformulation of the original source rather than merely replacing words or rearranging sentences. Proper citation must still be provided even when the source has been paraphrased. |
| 4 | Avoid Self-Plagiarism Authors must not reuse substantial portions of their previously published work without proper citation and clear disclosure. Manuscripts must not be submitted simultaneously to another journal or republished in substantially the same form. |
| 5 | Review Similarity Sources Carefully Authors should examine every source identified in the similarity report. Particular attention should be given to similarities in the literature review, methodology, research instruments, discussion, and conclusions. |
| 6 | Respect Third-Party Materials Authors must obtain permission where required for the use of copyrighted tables, figures, photographs, questionnaires, teaching materials, assessment instruments, or other third-party content. |
| 7 | Editorial Evaluation The Editorial Team will evaluate the similarity report, citation practices, originality of the manuscript, context of the matched text, and the significance of each similarity before making an editorial decision. |
| 8 | Consult the Editorial Team When potential plagiarism, inaccurate citation, duplicate publication, or other publication-ethics concerns are identified, authors and other relevant parties may contact the Editorial Team for clarification and appropriate handling under the journal’s policies. |
| EDITORIAL ACTION |
| 1 | Revision Request Manuscripts containing correctable citation problems or excessive similarity may be returned to the author for revision and resubmission. |
| 2 | Rejection Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated content, or serious misuse of another party’s work may be rejected immediately. |
| 3 | Post-Publication Action When plagiarism is discovered after publication, RHFE may issue a correction, expression of concern, retraction, or other appropriate notice in accordance with its publication ethics policy. |
| Important Note A similarity percentage does not automatically establish plagiarism. The Editorial Team will consider the source and distribution of the similarity, the quality of citations, the type of matched material, the context of use, and the manuscript’s overall originality before reaching an editorial decision. |
