Abstract

The school library plays an important role in supporting the learning process by providing various book collections and information resources. However, the management of book collection data at SMAN 9 Bungo Rantau Ikil is still carried out manually, resulting in several problems, such as difficulties in recording book data, searching collection information, managing category, author, and publisher data, and generating reports that require considerable time. Therefore, a web-based information system is needed to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of library data management. This study aims to design a Web-Based School Library Management Information System at SMAN 9 Bungo Rantau Ikil. The system was developed using the Waterfall software development method, which consists of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, testing, and maintenance. The application was developed using the Laravel framework with MySQL as the database management system. System testing was conducted using the Black Box Testing method to ensure that all system functions operate according to user requirements. The results of this study indicate that the proposed system is capable of facilitating the management of book categories, authors, publishers, and book collection data in a computerized manner. In addition, the system provides faster, more accurate, and well-structured book information and reports, thereby improving the efficiency of library administration. The system developed in this study focuses only on library collection data management and does not include book borrowing and returning transaction features. Therefore, the proposed system can serve as an effective solution for improving library data management at SMAN 9 Bungo Rantau Ikil.
